Yes you do get paid as an electrician apprentice which is teaching you the trade by doing on the job training.
You'll be an apprentice for at least 4 years before you become a fully qualified and licensed electrician.
To become a fully qualified electrician it takes around 6 years.
You'll need to complete a certificate program in electrical technology which can be done in a few months but then you need to complete a diploma or associate's degree program too which can take at least 2 years.
After that you need to complete an apprenticeship program which consists of paid on the job training which also consists of classroom instruction as well.
So expect to take at least 6 years to become a fully qualified electrician.
