The amount of years of school that it takes to become a geneticist is between 8 years to 14 years depending on the type of geneticist you want to be and the path that you choose.

Becoming a research geneticist requires a total of 11 years to 14 years of schooling and involves 4 years in a related field like biology, chemistry or genetics for a Bachelor's degree.

You also need a Ph.D. Degree which involves 5 to 7 years of school and involves research and dissertation.

And 2 to 3 years of school for an optional Master's degree.

To become a clinical Geneticist or MD/DO takes around 13 years to 17 years of school which involves 4 years for your Bachelor's degree, 4 years of medical school for MD/Do, 3 to 5 years of residency "primary specialty", 2 to 3 years of genetics residency.

And for becoming a genetic counselor requires a total of 6 years which is 4 years for the Bachelor's degree and 2 years for a Master's degree in Genetic Counseling.

It can be somewhat hard to become a geneticist as becoming a geneticist requires a significant education and training.

The specific path will depend on the desired career role.

Often a bachelor's degree in genetics, biology or related field is a starting point in becoming a geneticist.

For other roles as a geneticist, especially if you want to become a clinical or medical geneticist you will need to attend med school and have a master's or doctoral degree, phD or MD for more advanced roles in research, development and clinical practice.

You don't always have to go to med school to be a geneticist unless you want to be a clinical or medical geneticists.

Clinical geneticists or medical geneticists require med school and require an MD or DO and further specialized training.

A geneticist that focuses on research or working in labs can pursue a PhD in genetics.

Most geneticists do go to med school and are considered doctors and more specifically a medical geneticist is a doctor that has specialized training in the field of genetics and can diagnose and treat genetic conditions.

A geneticist has completed medical school and a residency in a specialty such as pediatrics or even internal medicine, then followed by additional training i n medical genetics.

Geneticists go to medical school and are doctors that specialize in genetics.

Geneticists do also take blood samples for genetic testing.

Geneticists also may take other samples such as skin cell samples, saliva or amniotic fluid, depending on the persons situation and type of test.

Blood samples are a convenient way for geneticists to collect DNA for analysis.

Genetic testing often involves a simple blood draw, which is similar to a routine blood test and the blood sample is then sent to a lab for analysis.

Geneticists study DNA and investigate the structure, variation and function of genes that are made of DNA, to understand how the genetic information is passed down and how it influences someones traits and their health.

Geneticists focus on the study of the structure as well as function, inheritance and variation of genes.

Essentially geneticists delve into the science of heredity.

A geneticist investigates how traits are passed down through generations, how genes interact and how genetic information influences various aspects of an organism, which includes the organisms health and development.

Geneticists analyze the structure and function of DNA, which includes the DNA's sequences, organization and how it encodes the genetic information.

A geneticist also studies how genes are passed from parents to offspring, which include the patterns of inheritance for different traits and disorders.

Geneticists also investigate any differences in genes and how the differences in genes lead to variations in traits and susceptibility to diseases.

Geneticists also study the complete set of genes as well as genetic information within an organism, often focusing on how the different genes interact and affect the organism as a whole.

And they also investigate the role of the genes in various diseases, which include cancer and genetic disorders and other conditions.

A geneticists also studies how the genes and genetic information change over time and how it affects the evolution of species.

A geneticist which can be medical or clinical is a doctor that specializes in the understanding of the links between our health and genes.

Geneticists diagnose and also manage genetic disorders which affect people of all ages, from pregnancy and onward.
