To treat a sore eyelid you can use eyelid scrubs as well as warm compresses and even use some lubricating eye drops.
You can apply a warm, moist compress to your closed eyelid for 5 to 10 minutes several times a day to help loosen any debris and to reduce any inflammation.
You can also take a clean sock and add some uncooked rice to the sock and tie it shut and microwave it to warm it and then use the clean sock and rice as a warm compress as well to help treat the sore eyelid.
Using eyelid scrubs are also good to help treat a sore eyelid.
Gently clean your eyelid margins with a diluted baby shampoo solution or even commercially available eyelid wipes to remove bacteria and crusts.
When you have a sore eyelid you should also avoid wearing any eye makeup, using contact lenses or applying of any lotions and creams to the sore eyelid or affected area until the soreness goes away.
If the sore eyelid does not get better with home treatment and care after a couple of days or the symptoms get worse you should see an eye doctor.
And if you have any significant swelling, vision changes or pain you should see an eye doctor as soon as possible.
If you suspect an infection of the eye such as cellulitis or a stye, you should seek prompt medical attention.
If the cause of the sore eyelid is a bacterial infection, your doctor may prescribe you some antibiotic eye drops, oral medication or ointment.
And in some cases, steroid eye drops or steroid ointments may be used to reduce the inflammation and reduce the soreness of the eyelid.
And for certain eye conditions such as blepharitis, your doctor may prescribe medications such as topical cyclosporine.
