Is it normal for your eyes to burn and sting when you have the flu?

I have the flu and my eyes have just started to burn and sting like there's salt in my eyes but I've had the flu for a few days and the burning of the eyes just suddenly started.

Is it normal to experience burning and stinging eyes during the flu?

Not everyone experiences the same symptoms of the flu and not everyone experiences burning eyes during the flu but yes having burning eyes is very normal when you have come down with the flu virus.

If you have a fever then the higher body temperature can cause your eyes to water which results in the stinging sensation because your skin has natural salt in the sweat so it can cause your eyes to sting.

The water eyes should go away within a day or so.
