Most times no rodent damage is usually not covered by any home owners insurance since the rodents should always be kept away from your home when possible by setting out traps, extermination of rats and rodents etc.
Keeping away rats and other rodents is part of home maintenance according to most home insurance policies so you'll usually have to pay out of pocket to have repairs done after rodents damaged your home.
That goes for setting traps and having the place exterminated for rodents as well.
