What is the difference between photodiode and LED?

The difference between LED and Photodiodes is that the LED generates light with the help of charge carriers while a photodiode generates current due to incident photons.

To put it in more simple terms, LED converts electric energy into light energy but the Photodiode converts light energy into electrical energy.
