The ancient name of Kangra was Nagarkot.
Nagarkot also known as Kangra is a town in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesha, India.
In ancient and medieval times Kangra was called and known as Nagarkot when it was a fortress stronghold of the Rajput rajas.
The town in 1909 was sacked by Mahmud of Ghazna who was the Turkish Conqueror.
In 1360 Nagarkot was also sacked by Fīrūz Shah Tughluq.
Nagarkot was later held by the Mughals.
Nagarkot is a village that is located in central Nepal, at the rim of the Kathmandu Valley.
The Nagarkot village is known for its views of the Himalayas, including Mount Everest to the northeast, which are especially striking at sunrise and sunset.
And the surrounding scrubland is laced with trails and home to many butterflies.
And located to the west is the ancient, pagoda-style Changunarayan Temple, dedicated to Vishnu and a Hindu pilgrimage site.
