The reason they are taking NyQuil off the market is because it contained an ingredient called phenylephrine.

However NyQuil as well as DayQuil is still on the market but now does not contain the phenylephrine ingredient.

DayQuil and NyQuil will still be available but with a different formula.

The cold medicine that has been banned is phenylephrine which is a common ingredient in cold medicines and sinus medications like sudafed, Theraflu and DayQuil.

These medicines are not banned by the ingredient of phenyleprhine is gonna be banned by the FDA to be included in these medications.

The FDA is also giving manufacturers time to reformulate their medications or remove them from the market.

The reason why phenylephrine is being banned is because the FDA found that oral phenylephrine is ineffective at treating nasal congestion.

Phenylephrine was originally approved in 1976 by the FDA, although research since that time has shown that it does not work any better than placebos.

Phenylephrine become popular after the Combat Methamphetamine Epidemic Act of 2006 banned over the counter pseudoephedrine and then drug companies switched to phenylephrine because it cannot be used to make methamphetamine.

Alternatives to phenylephrine are steamy showers, saline nasal sprays and warm washcloths.

The FDA moved to pull popular decongestant amid effectiveness concerns.

The FDA is moving to remove Phenylephrine, which is a popular nasal decongestant, from store shelves.

Phenylephrine is in some cold medicines like Sudafed, Mucinex and DayQuil.
