Doxazosin is bad for the heart as well as kidneys and blood vessels of the brain especially when taken long term.

The damage that doxazosin can cause to the kidneys, heart and blood vessels of those organs can lead to possible kidney failure, heart failure or stroke.

The reason doxazosin is taken at night is because the body's absorption of doxazosin slows down during sleep, meaning at night doxazosin has a more prolonged effect.

The most common side effect of doxazosin is feeling weak, dizzy, sleepy or feeling like everything around you is spinning which is called vertigo.

If you do feel any weakness, sleepiness, dizziness or vertigo you should sit or lie down until you feel better.

Also avoid drinking alcohol with doxazosin as it can make you feel worse.

Doxazosin is not preferred because doxazosin has been associated with a higher risk of congestive heart failure and other side effects which include shortness of breath, fast heartbeat, fainting, dizziness and blurred vision.

What doxazosin does to the prostate is relaxes the muscles in your prostate and the opening of your bladder.

This can help to increase the flow or urine and or decrease the symptoms.

Doxazosin however does not shrink the prostate and the prostate can continue to get larger even when taking doxazosin.

The drug doxazosin treats high blood pressure and also symptoms of an enlarged prostate.

Doxazosin is a medication that belongs to a group of drugs or medications called alpha blockers.

The drug doxazosin which contains alpha blockers reduce your blood pressure by relaxing the blood vessels so that the blood is able to pass through your blood vessels more easily.

Doxazosin is also always taken at night because the absorption of doxazosin slows down during sleep, meaning at night doxazosin has a more prolonged effect.

Alpha-blockers treat high blood pressure by stopping A1 and A2 receptors from activating.

Blocking that activation relaxes blood vessels, lowering blood pressure.

Doxazosin can cost as little as $10.00 per month with RX coupons or insurance.

Hytrin is another similar drug to doxazosin and is a generic drug which also works well.

Both doxazosin and Hytrin are non selective alpha-1 blockers, which means they can lower your blood pressure.

Doxazosin can also make you pee more as side effects of doxazosin include needing to pee suddenly or more often than usual, pain or a burning sensation when peeing, and smelly or cloudy pee.

When taking doxazosin you should get plenty of rest and drink plenty of fluids.

This helps your body to flush out bacteria as well.
