Refrigerators should last from 10 to 15 years before you need to replace it.

However be prepared to replace your refrigerator at around 10 years and if you have the money to replace the refrigerator at 10 years even if it's still working then do so anyway.

Having a refrigerator go out on you when you don't have the money to replace it is the worst and your food will be spoiled.

I always put money into a savings account to purchase a new refrigerator every 10 years because I just don't want my refrigerator going out on me and spoiling expensive food.

I've seen refrigerators still working fine at 20 years old while others quit working as soon as 10 years but 10 years is usually the expected lifespan of refrigerators of today.

Unless the refrigerator is a high end refrigerator then it's not worth replacing any parts including the compressor on the refrigerator.
