It is bad to take acid reducers everyday and long term as it can sometimes lead to serious health issues including bone fractures, infections, nutritional deficiencies, kidney disease, cardiovascular disease and possible cancer.

long term use of acid reducers have been linked to fatal cases of cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, increased risk of stomach cancer, and nutritional deficiencies including vitamin B12, iron and magnesium.

Long term use of acid reducers have also been linked to an increase risk of dysentery, typhoid, tuberculosis and pneumonia.

The medications that can interfere with and should not be taken with antacids are quinolone antibiotics like ciprofloxacin, tetracycline antibiotics, iron supplements, digoxin and pazopanib.

The least harmful antacid is H2 blocker antacids such as Pepcid and Zantac antacids.

The H2 blocker antacids work by blocking chemicals which signal your stomach to produce acid although they can also interfere with the absorption of certain medications.

The safest antacid to take long term are proton pump inhibitor antacids such as Prevacid, Prilosec, Nexium and Pantoprazole.

Tums is also a pretty safe antacid to take long term and can be bought over the counter.

If you don't chew antacid chewable tablets the antacid won't work as effectively or as quickly and some of the active ingredients in the chewable antacid tablet can be absorbed into your bloodstream.

Antacids are made to be chewed so that the active ingredients in the antacid can work in the stomach directly.

When you chew the antacid tablet it breaks the antacid tablet into smaller pieces which allows the antacid tablets to work faster.

You can also try a liquid antacid if you don't like the chewable antacid tablets.

The side effects of chewable antacids are possible allergic reactions such as swelling of the throat, tongue, lips or face, hives, itching and skin rash.

Other possible side effects of chewable antacids are headaches, constipation, increased thirst, high calcium levels, increase in urination, vomiting, nausea, confusion, fatigue, unusual weakness and bone pain.

Chewable antacids should begin working within a few minutes of taking them.

Most chewable antacids begin working within a few minutes after taking them as long as you drink some water with the chewable antacids so they reach your stomach faster and begin working.

You should drink a glass of water after taking chewable antacids to help flush the antacid medicine down your throat and into your stomach so it can work properly.

Chew the chewable antacid tablet fully and then drink a glass of water.

You should take chewable antacids whenever the symptoms occur such as heartburn, indigestion, acid reflux etc.

I take my antacid chews in the morning, evening and again at night before bed which is when my acid reflux starts occurring.

You can take as many as 6 chewable antacid tablets in a day or 24 hour period.

You can take 2 to 4 chewable antacid tablets as symptoms occur but don't take more than 6 chewable antacid tablets in 24 hours or you can overdose.

To use chewable antacid tablets you simply take an antacid tablet and put it in your mouth and chew the antacid tablet like you would when you eat candy.

Chew the antacid tablet up and then drink a glass of water to send the antacids down into your stomach.

I usually take 2 antacid tablets at one time which seems to help me better but some people may only need one antacid tablet.

I use the antacid tablets that are flavored like fruits which make them easy and enjoyable to take.

The fruit flavored antacid tablets are so good tasting that I have to remind myself that it's medicine and not candy so I don't take too many of them.

I often take 2 antacid chewable tablets in the morning, 2 more in the afternoon and then I often take 2 more chewable antacid tablets before going to bed.

A common dosage of chewable antacid tablets is 1,500 mg to 3,000 mg as symptoms occur.

Most adults should take no more than 7,500 mg of chewable antacid tablets per day.

Pregnant women have a lower recommended daily maximum of chewable antacid tablets.
