The real official name of Earth is Terra.

Terra is Latin and means the same but 99 percent of all science fiction writers refer to it as Terra.

And in its earliest attestation, the word eorðe was used to translate the many senses of Latin terra and Greek γῆ gē: the ground, its soil, dry land, the human world, the surface of the world (including the sea), and the globe itself.

Earth is the planet that we are living on and is the third planet from the sun.

The planet earth is the only known celestial body to support life.

Earth is also distinguished by it's presence of liquid water on the surface and a diverse ecosystem across earths lands and oceans.

The planet earth is also the 5th largest planet in the solar system.

Earth is a rocky, terrestrial planet and it has a solid and active surface with mountains, valleys, canyons, plains and so much more.

Earth is special because it is an ocean planet.

Water covers 70% of Earth's surface.

All of the planets, except for Earth, were named after Greek and Roman gods and godesses.

The name Earth is an English/German name which simply means the ground.

It comes from the Old English words 'eor(th)e' and 'ertha'. In German it is 'erde'.

Some amazing facts about earth include.

Earth isn't actually round although it's not flat either.

The true shape of the Earth is an oblate spheroid and is almost spherical, but slightly flattened at the poles and bulging at the equator.

Coral reefs are Earth's largest living structure.
Earth has a squishy interior.
Antarctica is home to the largest ice sheet on Earth.
The Moon is drifting away from Earth.
Atacama is the driest place on Earth.
Earth's magnetic pole is creeping westward.
