The reason the earth spins is because Sun attracts the earth and thus pulls earth towards it and the reason we don't feel the earth spin is because of gravity, not being able to detect relative motion and constant speed.

Gravity holds us and everything firmly to earth and prevents us from feeling the spin,

Everything around us is also moving with the earth so there's no relative movement to detect and because the earth is at a constant speed of rotation we don't feel the motion.

Because we're all spinning around at the same speed we can't feel the motion of the earth spinning.

Earth is not the only planet that spins.

All planets in the solar system spin on their axis which includes, Neptune, Uranus, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars and Mercury but some of the planets spin much slower than earth or in a different direction than earth such as Venus.

Venus rotates and spins backwards unlike other planets.

The Earth is spinning as fast as 1,000 mph or miles per hour at the equator.

However earth actually orbits around the sun at a speed of around 67,000 miles per hour and at the same time the earth spins on it's axis at around 1,000 miles per hour.

Earth's exact mass is around 5.9722 x 10^24 kilograms.

The earth weighs around 13,170,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 pounds (or 1.3 x 10^25 pounds) or 13 septillion lbs.

Earth is the planet that we are living on and is the third planet from the sun.

The planet earth is the only known celestial body to support life.

Earth is also distinguished by it's presence of liquid water on the surface and a diverse ecosystem across earths lands and oceans.

The planet earth is also the 5th largest planet in the solar system.

Earth is a rocky, terrestrial planet and it has a solid and active surface with mountains, valleys, canyons, plains and so much more.

Earth is special because it is an ocean planet.

Water covers 70% of Earth's surface.

All of the planets, except for Earth, were named after Greek and Roman gods and godesses.

The name Earth is an English/German name which simply means the ground.

It comes from the Old English words 'eor(th)e' and 'ertha'. In German it is 'erde'.

Some amazing facts about earth include.

Earth isn't actually round although it's not flat either.

The true shape of the Earth is an oblate spheroid and is almost spherical, but slightly flattened at the poles and bulging at the equator.

Coral reefs are Earth's largest living structure.
Earth has a squishy interior.
Antarctica is home to the largest ice sheet on Earth.
The Moon is drifting away from Earth.
Atacama is the driest place on Earth.
Earth's magnetic pole is creeping westward.
