When employers perform background checks on potential employees the employer typically goes back as far as 7 years when looking at your background information.

However some places will go back as far as 10 years to see what's further on your record.

When I had a background check performed on me for a job one went back 7 years while another one checked as far back as 10 years.

Either way it didn't matter because I have a clean record.
