The resistors do basically the same job however the difference between thick and think film resisters is thin resistors have a thickness of film of f 0.1 micrometer or smaller.
And the thick film resistors has a film thickness thousands of times thicker than 0.1 micrometers.
Another difference is that thin film resistors have a metallic film that is vacuum deposited on an insulating substrate but thick film resistors don't.
