Both Electric Water Heaters and Gas Water heaters heat the water about the same and provide the same temperatures but natural gas water heaters are usually cheaper to operate than electric water heaters and the natural gas water heaters tend to heat the water back up faster once it's been depleted.
So if someone in your house takes a shower and uses all the hot water then it won't take as long to wait for more hot water with a natural gas water heater than it would with an electric water heater.
Another plus with a natural gas water heater is if the electric goes out you can still have a hot shower and have hot water but with an electric water heater if the power goes out then you only have a limited amount of hot water that won't heat back up again until the electric comes back on.
