Students must attend 170 days minimum of the 180 day school year.
A student cannot miss more than 10 days of school in a 6 month period and if they do then a mandatory attendance notification will be sent to the parents notifying them of the students absence.
Missing too much school is unlawful and can land the student in Juvenile Detention or Jail depending on the age.
If the child continues to be absent then the parents can even be sentenced to 90 days in jail and may also get a fine for $500.00 or more.
Police and even a truancy officer will look for the student if they become absent too much from school without a valid excuse.
