Gabapentin is a controlled substance but not on the Federal Level.

Some States have made Gabapentin a controlled substance medication due to the abuse of the medication.

Gabapentin is mostly used to control a persons seizures as well as cure pain from shingles and although Gabapentin is pretty safe when taken as directed by your doctor it can become habit forming and carries serious health risks including death if abused.

Yes Gabapentin is a controlled medicine and really should only be taken as a last resort.

I've heard reports of peoples health declining over years of taking Gabapentin and some people have reported that Gabapentin has caused balance problems and even confusion.

If you experience those problems after taking the medicine Gabapentin speak to your doctor as it could be harming you and doing more harm than good.
