Can you refuse a smart meter?

My electric company is starting to install smart electric meters in my area and I'm on the list soon to have a smart electric meter installed on my home but I'm afraid of the smart meters since I've heard of stories where the smart meter has caught fire and burned a house down.

Is it possible to refuse to have a smart meter installed in my home?

Yes you can refuse to have a smart electric meter installed on your home and there's no legal requirement as of now that can allow an electric utility to force an install of smart meter on your home.

I refused to have a smart electric meter installed on my home because of not only the dangers to health and safety but also because the smart meters being installed are causing meter readers to lose their jobs.

We really all should refuse to have smart meters installed on our homes because no good can come out of it.

Smart meters also emit radiation which can lead to cancer eventually.
