Benadryl cannot stop anaphylaxis although it can help with the allergic reaction but Benadryl alone is not enough to stop the anaphylaxis.

To stop anaphylaxis you will need to use a self injectable medication called adrenaline that is known as an Epipen and must be administered promptly during the anaphylaxis to be the most effective.

Anaphylaxis can in rare cases happen later and be delayed a few hours or so although most symptoms and cases of anaphylaxis happen and occur within minutes of being exposed to the allergen.

The signs and symptoms of a anaphylactic reaction can be mild at first and get worse very quickly.

Some people suddenly develop signs and symptoms of a severe allergic reaction called anaphylaxis without any other signs of a moderate or mild allergic reaction.

Signs and symptoms of a moderate or mild allergic reaction are swelling of the face, eyes or lips.

An anaphylactic reaction is a severe, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction.

The anaphylactic reaction can occur within seconds or minutes of exposure to an allergen.

Symptoms if an anaphylactic reaction include a skin rash, nausea, vomiting, difficulty breathing, and shock.

If not treated right away, usually with epinephrine, the anaphylactic can result in unconsciousness or death.

Sometimes, exposure to an allergen can cause a life-threatening allergic reaction known as anaphylaxis .

This severe reaction happens when an over-release of chemicals puts the person into shock.

Allergies to food, insect stings, medications and latex are most frequently associated with anaphylaxis.

Experiencing anaphylaxis can sometimes result in longer-term increased anxiety, or lead to post-traumatic stress.

It may cause a feeling of “not knowing what is safe anymore”.

This can result in avoidance of food or situations that everyone knows is safe but cause too much anxiety.
