In India, you can obtain an unmarried certificate, also known as a Single Status Certificate, from the local sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) office, tehsildar's office, or the registrar of marriages. The process typically involves submitting an application along with supporting documents that establish your identity and marital status. Commonly required documents include proof of identity (such as passport, Aadhaar card, or voter ID), proof of address, birth certificate, and sometimes an affidavit stating your single status.

After submitting the application and documents, the authorities verify the information provided. This verification process may include checking records to confirm your marital status. Once verified, the unmarried certificate is issued to you. The processing time varies depending on the state and office, ranging from a few days to a couple of weeks.

It's advisable to check with the local SDM office or tehsildar's office in your area for specific requirements and procedures as they may vary slightly across different states in India. Additionally, online application services may be available in some states, providing convenience for applicants.

A Certificate of bachelorhood/single-status/eligibility to get married can be issued by a competent court/ SDM having jurisdiction of the area of the residential address of the applicant.

First, you need to submit an Affidavit. (A single status affidavit states that you are free to marry).

Either AADHAR CARD or PASSPORT is required as address proof of the applicant for the single status affidavit.

Applicants should provide documents such as Birth certificate/schooling certificate as proof of birth.
