There's not too much difference between an operation and surgery.
Some doctors will refer to surgery as an operation while others may just refer to it as surgery.
Basically the operation is the actual work to repair what's inside a persons body once they cut you open.
The surgery is the name for the surgeon cutting the person open by making the incision.
