I get about three hours of cooking use out of one Butane Canister so if you don't cook that often with a Butane stove then the Butane canister can last you quite awhile.
I only use my Butane Stove in emergencies and Butane Canister lasts me a few years but of course if I were to use the Butane Stove more often then the Butane wouldn't last me as long.
