Hot dogs that are cut into a coin shape and foods such as meats, sausages, fish with bones etc are also foods that are the leading cause of fatal related choking and choking in children.
Other common foods that cause choking in children are jelly beans, hard candies, caramels, marshmallows, lollipops, cough drops, sticky and hard candy, snack foods, chips, pretzels, pretzel nuggets and Popcorn.
Small round foods such as grapes, cherries, cherry tomatoes, and melon balls are common causes of choking.

To help prevent choking, do not serve small (marble-sized), sticky, or hard foods that are difficult to chew and easy to swallow whole, including: Cheese cubes or blocks.
