The causes of a fungal infection in private parts in toddlers can be from humid weather, not cleaning the private area, not changing diapers or pull ups enough.
If your toddler is still in diapers and they are not getting changed often enough then the wet environment of the diaper and from humid weather can lead to the fungal infection in the private area in toddlers.
During hot weather the diaper area can become more humid and sweaty and lead to fungus and bacteria growing more in the diaper area and the diaper prevents the private area of the toddler from breathing properly.
So you may need to change your toddlers diaper more often in hot and humid weather.
The same is true with underwear as the toddler will usually sweat more in their private area and the underwear can also become moist and lead to fungal infections.
You can apply some creams to the toddlers private area and even diaper rash cream can help in some cases.
Diaper rashes caused by infection with a yeast (fungus) called candida are very common in children.
Candida grows best in warm, moist places, such as under a diaper.
Candida diaper rash is more likely to occur in babies who are not kept clean and dry.
Since yeast is a fungus, your toddlers doctor will recommend an antifungal medication (cream, ointment or pill) to stop the yeast overgrowth and treat the rash.
For severe yeast diaper rash, your toddlers doctor might recommend a steroid ointment (hydrocortisone) to combat the issue.
Yeast infections in the vagina or anus can be treated with medicated suppositories.
Thrush may be treated with a medicated mouthwash or lozenges that dissolve in the mouth.
Severe infection or infections in an immunocompromised child may be treated with oral anti-yeast medications.
