An 8 year old being so emotional is normal as by 8 years old your child is in the adrenarche stage and is prepping for the hormonal onslaught stage of puberty.

Both boys and girls go through the adrenarche stage although it is more likely to cause emotional upheaval in boys than it does in girls.

The adrenarche stage can also lead to more tears and more outbursts and aggression.

Eventually the 8 year old will become less emotional as they go through puberty.

When your 7 or 8 year-old has suddenly started acting moody and tearful, you're not alone.

The changes in their behavior may be due to adrenarche, which can affect how your child handles their emotions.

Every child struggles to regulate their emotions from time to time, but if you're dealing with a child who seems to cry over everything, big or small, you might be wondering if something else is at play.

Children who are prone to crying over even little things are more likely to be what's known as highly sensitive.

A component of social and emotional growth in 8- to 10-year olds is their desire for increased independence from parents and siblings, and their increased desire to be seen as intelligent and knowledgeable.

As they struggle to find the means to appropriately individuate, they can, at times, seem willful or defiant.

Adrenarche is a lot like puberty; it's characterized by changes in the body as your child enters her teen years.

Premature adrenarche is when these changes begin early, before age 8 for girls and age 9 for boys.

It's usually nothing serious, simply your child's body maturing in its own time.

While most children have occasional tantrums, extreme anger on a regular basis, especially in a child older than eight, might be a sign of a mental health issue.

By age 8, kids have become more independent and maybe disobedient, trying new things.

Remember to keep them safe in cars and around water, even if they know how to swim.

Make sure they wear a helmet whenever they're riding bikes, scooters, or skateboards.
