The new land found on Earth is Zealandia.
Zelandia is considered the 8th continent and is mostly submerged underwater and it also includes New Zealand as part of it's landmass.
Scientists identified Zealandia through analyzing the ocean floor data and rock samples to confirm it's continental status.
Although Zealandia is considered to be a continent, most of Zealandia lies beneath the surface of the ocean.
Zealandia also provides important insights into plate tectonics and the breakup of the ancient supercontinent Gondwana.
Also some parts of Zealandia are expected to rise above others.
Tectonic plates are also pushing the Southern Alps mountain range even higher.
However much of Zealandia will remain submerged.
Zealandia was also formerly part of Gondwana.
Today though it is 94% submerged, mainly as a result of widespread Late Cretaceous crustal thinning preceding supercontinent breakup and consequent isostatic balance.
The total human population of Zealandia is approximately 5.4 million people.
