Drinking hot water does not help acid reflux and it could actually make the acid reflux worse although some warm tea can help with acid reflux.

Warm but not hot water is good for acid reflux and even cool water is good to keep healthy and reduce acid reflux symptoms.

The best way to get rid of acid reflux is to take some over the counter antacids and drink some herbal tea such as ginger tea or chamomile tea.

Taking antacids and chewing some gum can also help to provide relief from acid reflux.

Things you can drink before bed with acid reflux are herbal teas such as ginger tea, licorice tea, chamomile tea, plant based milk and low fat milk, almond milk, flax milk and oat milk.

Coconut water, cucumber, carrot and aloe Vera juice is also good for drinking before bed to manage your acid reflux.

The best position to sleep in with acid reflux is on your left side as it keeps the junction that is between your stomach and your esophagus above the level of the gastric acid which helps to alleviate acid reflux.

Acid reflux is a condition that occurs when your sphincter muscle at the lower end of your esophagus relaxes at the wrong time, allowing stomach acid to back up into your esophagus.

This can result in heartburn and other signs and symptoms and frequent or constant reflux can lead to GERD

A gastroenterologist can perform a procedure called fundoplication to fix and treat acid reflux.

The gastroenterologist performs the fundoplication procedure by using a thin and flexible tube called a laparoscope to sew part of the top of your stomach around the lower part of your esophagus.

This then makes it less likely that any acid will back up into your esophagus.

A gastrointestinal exam takes on average of 2 hours although it can sometimes take an hour or even 5 hours depending on what tests need to be done during the gastrointestinal exam.

The test that is best for gastroenterology is an upper gastrointestinal series test, ultrasounds, MRI scans and CT scans as well as X Rays.

A gastroenterologist will look at your stomach by physically examining you and feeling and listening at your abdominal organs from outside or even by inserting a finger into the rectum.

The gastroenterologist may also order other follow up tests such as imaging tests, poop tests and blood tests.
