A scab forms over your wound to protect and seal off the wound or cut.
A scab that hasn't fallen off on it's own means that the wound or other cut hasn't fully healed.
Picking scabs won't usually cause any serious harm to your body, however peeling off a scab can make the wound take longer to heal and could increase your chances of getting your wound or cut infected.
