Foods that cause oxidation are foods cooked in lard, potato chips, cooked meats which are not cured, pastries, foods cooked at high temperatures, dehydrated foods and foods fried in oils.
Even foods which are processed, high in fat or high in sugar can also cause oxidation and oxidative stress in your body.
Oxidative stress in the body can cause inflammation and is also associated with metabolic ailments such as cancer, cardiovascular disease and diabetes.
Other factors that can contribute to and lead to oxidative stress include.
Being exposed to industrial chemicals or pesticides.
Pollution.
Taking certain medications.
Consuming alcohol.
Smoking tobacco and tobacco products.
And even exposure to radiation.
Oxidative stress can be hard on the body.
The damage that is caused by an overload of free radicals over time may become irreversible and lead to certain diseases (including heart and liver disease) and some cancers (such as oral, oesophageal, stomach and bowel cancers).
Oxidation can also be accelerated by stress and cigarette smoking.
