You can plant around your well.

However when planting things around you well you should only plant small plants and only plant at least 4 feet away from the well.

Never plant any trees or large plants that grow large roots as they can crack your well casing and enter your well.

Avoid planting any plants within 4 feet of the well and use plants with short roots.

Trees should be planted 20 feet or more away from the week.

Water needy trees like elm trees, maple trees, poplar trees and willow trees should be planted at least 50 feet away from the well.

If you do plant things around or near your well you shouldn't use any pesticides or fertilizers as they can enter the well and contaminate the water.

The ground around your water well should also slope away from it.

Also if your well does leak and crack then the tree roots will grow toward the well.

Small flowers are okay around the well but it's best to keep anything planted 4 feet away from your well.

I’ve planted around my well before, and it worked out great as long as I kept the plants a bit away from the actual well casing to avoid root interference. I even planted raspberries nearby, which I loved because they’re hardy and low-maintenance. If you're thinking about raspberries, it’s worth looking into raspberry companion plants—things like garlic or chives can help repel pests, and they look nice together too. Once, I had marigolds mixed in, and they kept my berries healthy and vibrant all season. Just make sure you’re not using chemicals that could seep into the well water, and you should be good to go!
