BMW used to be called Bayerische Flugzeugwerke (formerly Otto Flugmaschinenfabrik) when it was founded in March 7th 1916 and the company BMW was renamed to BMW in 1922 which stands forBayerische Motoren Werke.
BMW is called Beamer due to the phrase first appearing in the 1960s in Great Britian as a means to distinguish BMW bikes from the ones made by BSA which is a British motorcycle manufacturer that is known for their motorcycles known as Beezers.
Basically the nickname “Beamer” comes from Great Britain – and originally served to distinguish it from a British manufacturer* whose motorcycles bore the nickname “Beezer”.
Although BMW motorcycles also achieved great success on the British racing scene, including the “Isle of Man TT Races”.
Riders and fans of racing have dubbed BMW motorcycles “beemers” after the word “beezer” due to the two words' resemblance.
As it eliminates the challenging long W sound at the end, “Beemer” is more snappier and simpler to pronounce than BMW.
Bimmer = BMW car (4 wheels) and it is pronounced, BIM-mer.
Beemer or Beamer = BMW motorcycle (2 wheels) and it is pronounced, BEAM-er or Beam-Mer. That's it.
One of the main reasons for BMWs being so expensive is the cost of production.
From the quality of materials that are used to hand-built engines, BMWs come with a hefty price tag due to their production costs.
BMW uses only the highest quality materials in their vehicles, making them more expensive than other brands.
BMWs are as reliable as most luxury vehicles, albeit with their own set of quirks.
Advancements in technology and engine capabilities can put higher reliability ratings at risk for this brand, especially on newer models.
However, you can find several used BMW models that are well worth the investment.
