To deep clean a refrigerator start by emptying the fridge of everything.
For perishable foods you can store them in a deep freezer if you have one or a cooler.
Then remove the shelves and drawers and wash them in the sink or bathtub with some warm water and dish soap.
I wash the tubs and shelves in my shower using my handheld shower head.
Then you can spray some cleaner or a solution of vinegar and warm water on the inside of the refrigerator and all interior surfaces.
Allow it to sit for a few minutes and then use a soft cloth or paper towels to wipe it clean.
Then use a damp cloth or paper towel with some water to wipe the fridge down again.
You can also wipe the exterior of the fridge down with a damp cloth or paper towel and a solution of white vinegar and water.
Also regularly wipe down the gasket of the door of the fridge to help it retain it's seal.
You can also if you want to take the empty fridge outside such as on a deck and then spray it down with a garden hose.
During the springtime I like to take my fridge outside through my patio door and wash it down really good on the patio.
However some places have smaller doors that are not so easy to get the fridge through.
You should also wipe down and clean the drip pan to prevent any mold growth.
Refrigerators do still have drip pans to collect condensate which is a normal process of the refrigeration process.
The drip pan on a refrigerator is sometimes located at the front of the fridge under the kick panel or sometimes located at the back of the refrigerator on the bottom of the fridge.
To find the drip pan on your refrigerator, pull the refrigerator out and look towards the bottom of the refrigerator where the compressor is.
The compressor and drip pan may be behind a cover that needs removed either in the front or back depending on the refrigerator.
Some drip pans on the refrigerator or located near the compressor and others are located behind the kick panel.
To remove the kick panel in the front of the fridge, tilt and pull out the kick panel.
If unable to find the drip pan you can locate and trace the defrost drain line that leads to the drip pan.
To clean the refrigerator drip pan, turn off the water if it has water and electricity to the fridge.
Then remove any screws or clips to release the grille or cover.
Use a claw grabber or some tongs to pick up a paper towel or sponge to sop up and soak up any excess liquid.
You can also use disinfecting wipes to clean your refrigerators drip pan.
Drip pans or drain pans in refrigerators accumulate condensate liquid as part of the normal refrigeration process.
A drip pain or drain pan may be more than half full of water at any given time depending on several factors.
However the drip pan or drain pan condensation evaporates as the refrigerator unit runs, so it's not necessary to empty the drip pan regularly.
