You can calm down hypomania by taking mood stabilizers, antipsychotic medications and psychotherapy.

Other ways to calm down hypomania are to do calming and soothing activities, avoid noisy and bright or busy environments and go somewhere quite and calm, avoid alcohol and caffeine and make yourself go to bed even if you don't feel tired.

The 4 stages of mania are hypomania, acute mania, delusional mania and delirious mania.

The mental illness that has hypomania is bipolar disorder which was called manic depression and causes extreme mood swings which include emotional highs or mania or hypomania as well as lows or depression.

Hypomania can feel like anxiety and make you feel trapped with explosive energy and overwhelming anger, agitation and anxiety.

Hypomania can also feel like torment from the pulsating cell walls which will not shut up for a moment and allow you to think.

The symptoms of hypomania include.

Feeling abnormally upbeat, jumpy or wired.
Increased activity, energy or agitation.
Exaggerated sense of well-being and self-confidence (euphoria)
Decreased need for sleep.
Unusual talkativeness.
Racing thoughts.
Distractibility.

The key to a diagnosis of hypomania is that a persons elevated mood, behavior or activity level must last at least four days (all day or most of the day) and must rise to the level that's beyond normal and is noticeable by others.

You may feel euphoric, or extremely happy, during an episode of hypomania.

Your thoughts may race, and you may feel as though you can't talk fast enough to express them all.

You might have increased sexual energy, or you could feel agitated. You might be easily distracted.

Triggers of a hypomaniac episode include changes in sleep patterns or lack of sleep.

Using recreational drugs or alcohol.

Seasonal changes – for example, some people are more likely to experience hypomania and mania in spring.

A significant change in your life, such as moving house or going through a divorce.

Hypomania is a condition in which you display a revved up energy or activity level, mood or behavior.

The new “energized you” is recognized by others as beyond your usual self.

Hypomania is a less severe form of mania, and both are commonly part of bipolar disorder.
