Do wounds heal faster if you pick the scab?

I've always been told to not pick at a scab because it could make the wound worse or cause it to take longer to heal.

On the contrary I find that for me personally whenever I picked the scab on a wound it heals much faster since the scab can keep bacteria trapped near the wound.

To me it's a good idea to keep that bacteria away from the wound so it can heal faster so I always pick my scabs.
