The causes of someone to poop water include bacterial or viral infections like food poisoning, rotavirus, norovirus, stomach flu or even a food intolerance.

Food intolerance's to certain foods or drinks like gluten, lactose, dairy, fructose or artificial sweeteners can cause you to poop water.

Other causes of pooping water or watery diarrhea are reactions to certain medications such as antibiotics, laxatives, magnesium supplements, immunotherapy, chemotherapy, NSAIDS, antidepressants.

Even parasites, Traveler's diarrhea, metabolic conditions such as thyroid problems or damage from radiation treatments can cause you to poop water.

Crohn's disease, irritable bowel syndrome, digestive disorders, celiac disease and Malabsorption are also causes of watery poop.

Most cases of pooping water are nothing serious and clear up on their own within a few days or so.

However if you continue to have watery poop for longer than a few days you should seek medical attention and go to urgent care or the emergency room if the diarrhea does not stop.

Diarrhea can cause you to become dehydrated so be sure to drink plenty of water and other hydrating fluids.

Watery diarrhea happens when your colon is unable to absorb enough water and electrolytes from your poop and/or when it's secreting more than it's absorbing.

This osmotic type is caused by poorly absorbed nutrients that draw extra water into your colon which is how osmotic laxatives work.

Treatments for watery poop or watery diarrhea include drinking plenty of water, avoiding foods that make it worse, and taking medications to treat diarrhea or an underlying condition.
