Why is my USPS package tracking stuck in Pre Shipment USPS awaits item for 5 days?

I order something from eBay on February 4th and now 5 days later at February 9th the USPS tracking still says.

Pre-Shipment

Shipping Label Created, USPS Awaiting Item.

A shipping label has been prepared for your item.

A delivery date will be provided when USPS receives the package; contact the shipper or shipping partner with any inquiries.

The USPS tracking stuck in Pre Shipment USPS awaits item for 5 days or any amount of time happens pretty regularly and it does not mean that your package was never shipped.

I've had packages that were shipped through USPS stay stuck on USPS pre shipment USPS awaits item for 7 days before and then it finally showed up.

Packages are getting slowed down and lost through the USPS and packages are taking longer than expected in some cases and eventually it will show up.

Sometimes I've had the pre shipment with USPS on tracking for a few days and then it suddenly updated.

I wouldn't worry about it unless it's been longer than a week and you didn't get the package yet.

Pre Shipment USPS awaits item means that the seller created a label and USPS is waiting on the item to be turned over to them.

In some cases it may mean that USPS has not received the item yet to ship and does not have it in their possession or in some cases which happens to me sometimes and even now the package just wasn't scanned into their system.

I wouldn't worry as I too had a package I ordered from eBay stay in Pre Shipment USPS awaits item since the 5th and today on the 12th it finally updated and said it was delivered in my mailbox and I did get the item on the expected delivery date.

Sometimes the scans are just missed.

So the package and tracking may stay stuck in Pre Shipment USPS awaits item up until it actually gets delivered to you.
