Nobody has cured cataracts without surgery as surgery is the only way to cure cataracts.

The best way to reverse cataracts is to have cataract surgery which replaces the cloudy lens with an artificial lens so you can see more clearly.

Eating healthy and including carrots in your diet can also help prevent cataracts and other eye issues.

The amount of days rest that is needed after cataract surgery is 1 day to 3 days of rest.

Once your eyes heal you may still require glasses such as for reading.

Your eyes do go back to normal within 24 hours after cataract surgery.

Although you can still have some sensitivity to light which can last for a few more takes and it can take up to 4 weeks to 6 weeks for your eyes to fully heal after cataract surgery.

The negatives of cataract surgery are unwanted visual images which is also known as dysphotopsia.

Examples of positive dysphotopsia include streaks of light, halos and glare which occur most frequently at night or in dim light and are most common with multifocal lenses.

Floaters do go away eventually after cataract surgery and in most cases the floaters after cataract surgery go away within a few weeks to a few months.

Seeing floaters can be normal after cataract surgery.

Vision getting worse after cataract surgery is normal due to swelling in the eye from the cataract surgery and inflammation.

People who have larger, denser and or firmer cataracts are much more likely to have more inflammation.

If your vision is getting worse after cataract surgery and not improving then something has likely gone wrong with the cataract surgery and you should see an eye doctor or your cataract surgeon.

Posterior capsular opacification (PCO) is a potential complication of cataract surgery.

Sometimes called a “secondary cataract,” PCO is a cloudy film growing over the portion of the eye where your artificial lens sits.

PCO can cause blurry or distorted vision.

The red flags after cataract surgery are discharge and swelling, redness, increasing pain and worsening eyesight.

The most feared complication of cataract surgery is endophthalmitis.

The reason the sun is so bright after cataract surgery is because of the increasing opaqueness of the lens which causes the amount of light to enter the eye to progressively get reduced.

After cataract surgery it takes around 8 weeks for your eye to heal and you will usually have several follow up appointments to ensure  your eye is healing properly.

During cataract surgery, your eye doctor will remove the cloudy lens from your eye and replace it with an artificial lens (called an intraocular lens, or IOL).

The cataract surgery lasts about 1 hour and is almost painless. Usually, you'll be awake during cataract surgery.

Cataract surgery is not at all painful.

Most patients describe a mild sensation of pressure around the eye.

In some cases, we may use local anesthesia (administered via eye drops) or perform a small anesthetic block around the eye.

Cataract surgery, which is also called lens replacement surgery, is the removal of the natural lens of the human eye that has developed a cataract, an opaque or cloudy area.

The eye's natural lens is usually replaced with an artificial intraocular lens.

Cataract surgery is more difficult after a vitrectomy because the absence of the vitreous humor causes anatomical changes that can lead to a more difficult surgery.

The retina can sometimes detach after a vitrectomy although it's rare that happens.

Sometimes, the retina detaches again following surgery.

More surgery would be needed.

In severe cases, this complication may be irreversible.

A vitrectomy is 90 percent effective even for those over 60 years of age.
