Factor 11 name is Factor XI deficiency.

Factor 11 deficiency is an inherited and rare bleeding disorder also known as Factor XI deficiency that was first described in 1953 by Rosenthal and al 1,2.

People affected with factor 11 deficiency or Factor XI deficiency may have bleeding symptoms after a trauma or a surgery and some people have few of any symptoms.

Factor 11 deficiency is also known as Hemophilia C.

Hemophilia C is very rare and rarely causes serious medical issues.

Most people with hemophilia C don't have symptoms until they're adults, and those symptoms are usually quite mild.

That said, you may develop bleeding problems after surgery or dental treatment.

Those with factor XI deficiency may need specific therapy for surgery, accidents, and dental extractions.

Several therapies are available which include fresh frozen plasma, factor XI concentrates, fibrin glue, antifibrinolytic drugs, and desmopressin.

Affected individuals with factor 11 deficiency may be prone to bruising or nosebleeds.

Women may experience prolonged, heavy bleeding during their menstrual periods (menorrhagia).

Some affected women experience prolonged bleeding after childbirth.

Bleeding into the joints or spontaneous bleeding (both common with hemophilia types A and B)
