An ingrown nail usually requires no medical treatment and should go away on it's own within a week or two but if the ingrown nail doesn't go away within that time or is too painful for you then you should see a doctor to get the ingrown nail treated and removed.

Things you can do at home to treat an ingrown nail is to soak your nail in some warm soapy water fro 20 minutes 2 to 3 times per day.

Applying a warm compress to the ingrown nail can also help.

After you've soaked the ingrown nail put some antifungal or antibiotic cream on the infected area and then cover the infected area of the nail with a sterile bandage.

Taking some over the counter pain relieving medication can also help alleviate the pain of an ingrown nail as well.

But if it doesn't improve you can go see a doctor to treat the ingrown nail and make it feel better.
