The conditions that causes someone to have so much mucus include cystic fibrosis, COPD, chronic bronchitis, lung cancer, smoking and bronchiectasis.

The disease that causes excessive mucus production is cystic fibrosis which is a disease that is caused by a defective gene which makes the body produce abnormally sticky and thick mucus.
