Some reasons you keep finding beetles in your house are because you accidentally track the beetles in your house or they come in to seek shelter and food.

You can get beetles in your house through tracking them in or when they come in through cracks around windows, doors, holes etc.

The beetles also come into the house to seek out stored grains and packaged foods and garden plants, fabric and wood.

Beetles can infest a house and you may even accidentally bring the beetles into the house accidentally along with other infested things.

Beetles search for shelter which also brings the beetles indoors and some beetles will come into the house during winter to avoid cold weather and they can enter houses through cracks in your foundation or through gaps around windows frames or around door frames or through holes where wires and plumbing enter or exit the home.

The kind of beetles that dig holes in the ground are Nicrophorus beetles and burying beetles.

Ground beetles also emerge from shelter beneath mulch or shallow burrows at night to hunt soft-bodied slugs, smaller beetles, or other small creatures that come within their range.

And the ground beetles shallow burrowing helps break down organic matter.

Beetles can climb walls and are great at climbing walls and windows.

Beetles are beneficial even though they can be a pest themselves but beetles are great at reducing and getting rid of other insect and weed problems.

Ground beetles, tiger beetles, tortoise beetles and rove beetles are the most beneficial beetles.

Some types of beetles serve very useful purposes for example, lady bugs, tiger beetles, and solider beetles all eat aphids and other insects that can do damage to plants and trees.

Rove beetles are beneficial as they eat flies, aphids, mosquitos, and maggots.

Some beetles like the Rhinoceros Beetle and the Stag Beetle live for 3 years to 6 years and other species of beetles live for only 3 months to 6 months.

Some beetles lay their eggs in the soil and other beetles lay eggs in decaying leaves, animal feces, rotten wood etc and some beetles even keep their eggs inside of them and give birth to live larvae.

Beetles do live in soil and many adult species of beetles will burrow in soil to lay eggs.

You can find beetle grubs and beetle larvae living only a few inches below the surface of the dirt or soil.

True to their name the ground beetles breed and live in the soil and are regularly found on the ground under leaves, wood, rocks, logs, boards and any other debris.

Beetles in the garden are good for pest control by eating snails, slugs, earwigs, mites, cutworms, aphids, hornworms and other insects that can be harmful to your garden.

You get ground beetles in your garden as the ground beetles are attracted to the plants and food in your garden which provide a food source for the ground beetles.

The plants that ground beetles are mostly attracted to are asparagus, rhubarb and vigorous perennial flowers and herbs but they will also go after other plants.

You can get rid of ground beetles naturally by setting glue traps, using cloves and even Diatomaceous earth which is a natural powder which kills ground beetles and other beetles.

Sprinkle the diatomaceous earth where the ground beetles are found.

You can treat ground beetles naturally by setting out sticky traps and removing them by sucking up the ground beetles in a vacuum cleaner.

Another option to get rid of ground beetles by using Sevin Insect Killer Granules that are applied with a regular lawn spreader.

Apply the Sevin Insect Killer granules around the home foundation and on the ground beetles infestation.

Ground beetles are not harmful to humans although ground beetles may pinch or bite if they feel threatened but they rarely bite or pinch humans or pets.

Ground beetles are very good for the soil and beneficial as they are important components of soil food webs where the ground beetle feeds on other insects and helps break down organic matter which helps maintain the health of the soil and the fertility of the soil.

The habitat of the ground beetle can be just about any habitat that has other small animals for them to eat.

Most ground beetles can be found in habitats such as forests, high mountains or in deserts and even on the seashore.

Ground beetles eat soft bodied slugs that they hunt at night.

Ground beetles lay their eggs on soil, within soil or mulch and on leaves.

Ground beetle eggs look small, white and oval shaped which are often laid on soil, leaves or within soil or mulch.

Ground beetles are fast and can reach speeds of up to 5.6 mph.

A ground beetle is as fast as 5.6 mph and can run swiftly to catch their prey.

Animals that eat ground beetles are spiders, ants, lizards, toads, birds, moles, ground feeding birds, shrews and even other beetles.

Ground beetles are not poisonous to dogs, cats humans or other pets and they are not known to cause any diseases, although they can bite and pinch if threatened but rarely do.

If a dog or cat ingests the ground beetle they also do not cause any harm other than a possible upset stomach.

Ground beetles feed on various pests and insects including caterpillars, aphids and many other insects and they also hunt and kill their prey on sight.

Ground beetles can control other populations of other insects and act as natural pest control although ground beetles when they get into homes can become pests themselves but they are very beneficial outside and do not damage to buildings, homes etc.

Ground beetles are attracted to bright light including yellow light as well as earthworms, pupae, fly maggots, other beetles, grubs and caterpillars and perennial vegetables like rhubarb, asparagus and vigorous perennial flowers and herbs.

Ground beetles are not harmful to humans or pets and ground beetles also do not harm or damage household structures, furniture etc.

When exposed the ground beetles will move quickly to find shelter and rarely fly.

Outdoors ground beetles are actually beneficial as they feed on insect larvae.

Ground beetles are a large, cosmopolitan family of beetles, the Carabidae, with more than 40,000 species worldwide, around 2,000 of which are found in North America and 2,700 in Europe.

The ground beetle is one of the 10 most species-rich animal families and they also belong to the Adephaga.

Ground beetles do not damage buildings, food or clothing. They are not harmful to people.

If ground beetles are mishandled, they could pinch the skin.

The ground beetles are just a nuisance when they are found indoors.

Ground beetles are attracted to bright lights.

If you have any outdoor lighting on a porch or driveway near entry points like open windows and doors, this can create a hotspot for beetle activity.

Beetles and ground beetles are more active at night, making white and yellow lights all the more alluring.
