You want to wait at least 15 minutes to drink water after brushing your teeth as it means the fluoride from the toothpaste is in your mouth longer and gives you a better result from the fluoride.
It also allows the toothpaste residue to be left in your mouth longer which helps to keep bacteria and germs in the mouth.
Dentists recommend spitting out any excess saliva or toothpaste after you're done brushing as opposed to rinsing your teeth.
Leave the fluoride on your teeth as you go about your day, and try to avoid eating or drinking for 10 minutes or more after brushing is done.
To keep your teeth healthy and prevent tooth decay you should brush your teeth after every meal or at least twice a day but brushing 3 times a day is even better and floss between meals as well.
