The painkiller that is safe for the liver is acetaminophen also known as Tylenol.

Acetaminophen is the main ingredient in Tylenol.

When Tylenol or acetaminophen is used as directed and in the proper dosages is save for the liver and even safe for people that have liver disease.

The drugs that are the worst for the liver include.

Antiviral drugs for HIV infections.
Allopurinol for gout.
Steroids.
Niacin.
Antifungal drugs.
Arthritis drugs like azathioprine and methotrexate.
Antibiotics such as erythromycin and amoxicillin clavulanate.
And Statins.

These medications can cause liver issues and even make liver disease worse.

The drugs like ibuprofen, codeine, aspirin and other non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs should only be used with caution and after consulting with your doctor.

If you have hepatitis C the drug paracetamol is the safest pain killer.
