The reason your head hurts after the chiropractor is a result of the muscle tension release as well as the body's natural reaction to the adjustment and spinal realignment.

The head hurting after the chiropractor adjustment is often temporary and does not indicate any serious health issues.

However if the headache is severe or persistent you should let your doctor or chiropractor know.

When you have chiropractic adjustments to your body, it can release muscle tension which has built up in your back, neck and head and the sudden release of the muscle tension can cause a temporary headache or discomfort as the body adjusts.

Chiropractic adjustments also can realign your spine, which can sometimes trigger a temporary headache as your body adapts to the new posture and position.

And the chiropractic treatment and realignment also can cause a release of toxins from your muscles and tissues and the toxins, such as cortisol and lactic acid can also cause mild discomfort, including headaches as the toxins are flushed out from the body.

The chiropractic adjustments can also increase the blood flow to your head, which can also lead to a temporary headache, especially if the there is a sudden change in blood flow.

Also being dehydrated can make the headaches worse from chiropractor adjustments, so it's important to stay hydrated and drink plenty of water.

You should stop chiropractic treatment if the symptoms have improved significantly or have resolved.

Or if the symptoms have not improved or have reached a plateau despite continued chiropractic treatment then it may indicate that further chiropractic adjustments are not beneficial to you.

If you have achieved your initial chiropractic treatment goals like reduced pain or improved mobility from the chiropractic treatments it might be a good idea to discontinue or stop chiropractic treatment.

Or if you experience any adverse reactions from the chiropractic adjustments, like increased pain, numbness, dizziness or tingling it may be a good idea to stop chiropractic treatments immediately and seek medical attention.

If you have any underlying medical conditions which may affect your chiropractic treatment, you should consult with your doctor before starting or stopping chiropractic treatment.

Once you start to feel normal and the pain and symptoms go away, you have better movement and mobility and better posture then it's often time to cancel and stop the chiropractic treatment.

However if you need future chiropractic treatment after stopping you can do so whenever you feel like you need to return to chiropractic treatments.
