Can strong winds break windows?

If the wind gets above 200 MPH then the wind could break the windows but that would be a heck of a strong wind and more damage than just windows would happen.

The lower wind speeds can break windows but it's not the wind itself that breaks the windows it's the debris flying through the air.

Although if the air pressure is just right along with the wind then winds of 80 MPH could break out windows.

There are windows made today though that can withstand higher wind speeds and withstand debris flying at it without breaking.

Best thing to do during a thunderstorm or high wind is to avoid being near any windows just in case the wind does happen to break the window along with flying debris.
