If you park near a curb here's what you need to do.

When parking your vehicle parallel to the curb on a level street your front wheels must be turned toward the street and also your wheels must be within 18 inches of the curb and one of your rear wheels must touch the curb.

So when parking near a curb parking your car next to a curb make sure your wheels are no more than 18 inches away from the curb.

You must have your wheels at least 18 inches next to the curb and no more than 18 inches away from the curb.

So as long as your wheels on your vehicle are at least 18 inches from the curb you're parking it correctly.
