Dealing with oil stains on clothing can be a common yet challenging issue. Knowing how to get oil out of clothes is a valuable skill that can salvage your favorite garments.

Dish Soap and Hot Water:

One effective method involves using dish soap and hot water. Begin by blotting the stain with a paper towel to absorb excess oil. Apply a small amount of dish soap to the stain, gently rubbing it in. Rinse the garment under hot water, and launder as usual.

Cornstarch or Baby Powder:

For fresh oil stains, cornstarch or baby powder can work wonders. Sprinkle the powder onto the stain, allowing it to absorb the oil. After a few hours, brush off the powder, and launder the garment as recommended.

WD-40 or Hairspray:

Surprisingly, WD-40 or hairspray can also be effective in removing oil stains. Apply a small amount to the stain, let it sit for a few minutes, then blot and wash the garment.

Baking Soda Paste:

Create a paste using baking soda and water, then apply it to the oil stain. Allow it to sit for 15-20 minutes before laundering. This method is particularly useful for stubborn stains.

Remember, when attempting to get oil out of clothes, it's essential to check the garment's care label and test any cleaning method on a small, inconspicuous area first. With these simple yet effective techniques, you can bid farewell to unsightly oil stains and extend the life of your clothing.

I've had good luck with getting oil out of clothes by applying some dish soap to the oil or oil stain and rubbing it in until the oil and oil stain is covered.

Then I let the dish soap sit for around 10 minutes and then soak the garment in some warm water for 30 minutes.

Then rinse the garment out and put the garment in the washing machine.

You may also want to add some Oxiclean to the washing machine to help further remove the oil residue.
