Symptoms of a bad starter are grinding noises when starting your car, slow cranking of your cars engine and even a clicking noise when you go to start you car it could be the starter.

A starter should crank your engine over fast and not slow so if your battery is good and your engine cranks slow then you should get your engines starter tested.

Another symptom of a bad starter can be your interior lights coming on just fine but the starter doesn't engage but of course that can also be a symptom of bad or loose battery cable connections so check the battery cable connections as well and be sure your battery is fully charged up.

Sometimes though it may not be the starter causing starting problems such as clicking sounds and could be loose battery cable connections or corroded battery cable connections.
