Malicious mother syndrome or malicious parent syndrome refers to situations of malicious parenting in which a divorced or divorcing parent deliberately aims to harm the other co parent.
Some key characteristics of malicious mother syndrome include.
The mother actively tries to turn the children or child against the father and often portrays the father negatively to the child or children.
The mother may also refuse to allow for regular or scheduled visitation or even attempt to make it as difficult as possible for visitation to occur.
The mother may also engage in some prolonged legal battles and possibly even involve legal action that is unnecessary or even frivolous claims.
The mother may even lie to her child or children about the father or even engage in other forms of deception to influence their opinions.
And in some cases the mother may even engage in actions that are illegal or could even lead to legal repercussions and the behaviors or not attributed to another mental disorder, although a separate disorder may exist.
Malicious mother syndrome is not a diagnostic term though.
